Space Education in Schools

We provide educational talks to primary and secondary level schools. We show how astronauts live, work, and play in space; how they prepare for their missions; what the hundreds of people behind the scenes do to support the crew; and most importantly how you don't have to be an astronaut to work in the space sector, that anyone can work in space!

See our testimonials below

"The children were delighted with the extremely informative talk given by Eoin Tuohy. Eoin shared his wealth of knowledge with all the pupils, telling us all about space, what happens on space missions, how the astronauts survive up in space, the challenging training an astronaut needs to undertake before going on a space mission. It was really interesting and Eoin answered every question that the students asked and there were zillions of them!! Many were so enthralled by Eoin they opted to forego breaktime!"

“We were blown away by Eóin’s engaging, child-led presentation on all things space. He made the curriculum accessible for all ages and he seamlessly differentiated his presentation so that it catered for all ages, from Junior Infants right up to Sixth Class. Eóin is a master at making space relatable, accessible and relevant for children. He was captivating and inspired the children (and the staff) of Powerscourt NS. We were lucky to have Eóin involved in our science programme during the school closure and I was delighted to see children, parents and staff alike, glued to the screen for the duration of his presentation. The children enjoyed every element and I would highly recommend Eóin to any school.”

Eóin came to our school during Summer Camp 2022 on the last day of Space Week. He sent us challenges and questions to complete ahead of his visit so students got busy making and testing rockets, compiling questions they would like him to answer about space and creating a logo design for a hypothetical Irish Space Agency.

On the day of his visit, he delivered a wonderful presentation all about an astronaut's journey to space, the astronauts who were currently conducting experiments on the ISS, and first-hand knowledge on all of the important work done by professionals across multiple disciplines to make space exploration possible. He answered student questions, oversaw their rocket launches and judged the logo design competition. His visit was interactive, engaging and, most importantly, a lot of fun! Students were left with the encouragement that if a local can work for the European Space Agency and apply for astronaut selection- so could they!

As a teacher, it was great to see so much of the curriculum touched upon in an engaging and inspiring way, differentiated for the class level and student ability. I would recommend Eóin to any school and we hope to have him back again next year.

Outreach

Inspiring the Next Generation

Space outreach is one of our core values. We want to make people realise that a career in the space sector is a real possibility.

We partake in a number of conferences, career shows, and outreach activities to achieve just that.
